By the time you may need a root canal, the bacteria causing the infection has likely already made its way down the tiny canals of the tooth. This can cause high levels of pain, swelling, and increase your risk of permanent tooth loss.

In most cases, a root canal procedure can be done in just one visit and can take anywhere between 60-90 minutes on average.

However, this can depend on several factors, such as:

             Your anatomy -

            A root canal procedure involves using special tools to remove all the infected tissue from the narrow chambers of the tooth, known as the canals. Sometimes, the tooth’s natural anatomy may make the procedure more difficult, in which case you could need multiple visits;

The size of the infection -

            If the infection is large and has already started to spread, you may need to take antibiotics for a few days, before the tooth can be properly cleaned and disinfected. Antibiotics may be taken orally, but in some cases, they could be applied directly to the tooth;

            Existing damage -

Once the infected tissue is removed, the tooth has a permanent hole. Sometimes, if the hole isn’t too big, you may get a dental filling to restore the tooth, which can be applied during your initial visit. But, if the damage is severe, you could need a dental crown instead.

HOW LONG DOES ROOT CANAL RECOVERY TAKE?

Usually, healing after a root canal is a fairly straightforward process. The procedure is done under local anesthetic or sedation, so you will likely not feel anything for a few hours after your visit.

Once these effects wear off, you can start feeling a bit of pain and noticing swelling. The symptoms should get gradually better in just a few days.

If your root canal is more complex and you need antibiotics, unfortunately, it’s possible to still experience pain 4-5 days after your initial visit. Your body is still fighting the infection.

Following a root canal, you should:

            Continue to brush and floss your teeth;

            Take any medications you’re prescribed, as indicated;

            Chew on the other side of your mouth for a few days, until the discomfort disappears;

WHAT NOT TO DO AFTER A ROOT CANAL – MISTAKES TO AVOID AFTER TREATMENT

Wondering what NOT to do after you get your root canal? Here are a few things you should avoid after treatment.

Despite what pop culture may have you believe, getting a root canal is a simple, pain-free procedure, and it usually takes only 30-60 minutes to treat your tooth at ONE ENDO.

However, once you get your treatment, there are some things you should do to keep your tooth healthy, and some things you should avoid as you heal. Wondering what NOT to do after you get your root canal? Here are a few things you should avoid after treatment.

           1. AVOID EATING FOR A COUPLE HOURS AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

After your treatment at ONE ENDO, we recommend that you don’t eat until your mouth is no longer numb. If you eat while your mouth is numb, there’s a good chance that you’ll accidentally chew on your cheek, which can cause bleeding, as well as some discomfort once your numbing wears off.

Once your numbing wears off, though, you can eat right away. If you want your numbing to wear off more quickly, you can go for a brisk walk. Getting your blood flowing with some mild exercise will help the numbing wear off faster.

           NON-SURGICAL ROOT CANAL

You can chew with whichever side of your mouth you want. However, the tooth that was treated with a root canal may still feel a little bit sore and tender for a few days. So to avoid discomfort, it’s better to favor the opposite side of your mouth when possible.

           3. DON’T EAT HARD OR CRUNCHY FOODS FOR A FEW DAYS

You should avoid really hard and crunchy foods like tortilla chips, potato chips, and pretzels for a few days after your treatment. These foods can cause a lot of pain and discomfort when you chew, since they place a lot of pressure on your teeth.

Instead, you should eat soft foods that are easy to chew for a few days, until your sensitivity starts to subside. Soup, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, pasta, scrambled eggs, applesauce, rice, and other easy-to-chew foods are the best option. Then, over the next few days, you can start incorporating harder and chewier foods back into your diet.

           4. NEVER EAT GUMMY OR STICKY FOODS

After your root canal, you will get a temporary filling or crown. This is only meant to protect your tooth for a few weeks, until you can get a permanent crown from ONE ENDO. And while you have your temporary crown or filling, you should not eat any really gummy or sticky foods, like gummy worms, taffy, caramel, and other such foods.

This is because, over time, eating really sticky, gummy foods can pull your filling or crown off of your tooth. If this happens, you’ll have to come back to ONE ENDO to get another temporary to protect your tooth.

You can go back to eating these foods once you get your permanent crown. Permanent crowns are anchored in place very tightly, and won’t loosen when you eat these foods. But until then, avoid sticky and gummy candy and other foods!

           5. DON’T IGNORE CONTINUED PAIN AND DISCOMFORT

A little bit of tenderness and pain is normal for a couple days after your root canal as the area around your tooth heals. But if you’re continuing to experience serious pain and sensitivity, don’t wait. Call ONE ENDO right away.

While it’s not common, root canals may not always be successful. If you’re still feeling lots of pain, your tooth may still be infected, and require root canal retreatment. The sooner you get help, the better your outcome will be.

When it comes to dental problems, there is a solution for each specific issue that will help you regain and restore your oral health and function.

One of those procedures is having a root canal.

           WHAT IS A ROOT CANAL?

           root canal intervention

is performed when the pulp inside the tooth has been severely affected by an infection or inflammation due to untreated tooth decay.

During a root canal, the dentist will extract the infected pulp in an attempt to save the tooth. If the infection is not treated in time, the dentist might not be able to save your natural tooth.

After the pulp extraction, the dentist will seal the area to protect it from further damage, and you will be able to have a perfectly healthy and functional tooth again.

If you are worried about pain, know that this procedure is done under local anesthesia so that you won't feel a thing.

There are two ways to perform a root canal: non-surgical and surgical.

Let's learn the difference between the two.

           NON-SURGICAL ROOT CANAL

This is the more conventional way to perform a root canal. Here's how it works.

After the local anesthesia kicks in, your

           endodontist

will drill a hole in your tooth to reach and extract the damaged pulp and save the tooth. After the pulp is removed, the tooth is cleaned and filled to prevent future damage.

If the damage is considerable, your tooth might need reconstruction by using metal posts and then covering it with a dental crown. This will restore your tooth's functionality and prevent it from further damage.

           SURGICAL ROOT CANAL

This type of intervention is performed when the non-surgical root canal has failed or when it wasn't enough to save the tooth. This type of surgery is minor, and it is done under local anesthesia as well.

A surgical root canal may also be recommended when the infection or inflammation continues to impact the tooth even after the pulp has been non-surgically removed.

This can happen either because the bacteria has not been properly cleaned before sealing the tooth or new bacteria entered through a new cavity.

A surgical root canal is done through the gum to prevent the tooth's structure from getting damaged.

           SURGICAL OR NON-SURGICAL ROOT CANAL?

Your dentist will be the one determining which type of root canal will help your oral health best. Regardless, both of these procedures can help save and restore your oral health and save you money from tooth replacement procedures.

If you’ve recently had a root canal at ONE ENDO or you’re about to schedule a root canal, you may be wondering what to expect after your treatment. Will your tooth hurt? How much pain is normal? When should you contact our team for a follow up? In this blog, we’ll answer all of these questions and more.

YOU’LL FEEL PAIN RELIEF AFTER YOUR ROOT CANAL AT ONE ENDO

Your tooth won’t hurt at all during root canal therapy at our office. We offer numbing and sedation during treatment, so you won’t feel anything during your treatment at ONE ENDO. We’re always dedicated to your comfort.

In fact, you should feel a significant reduction of pain and discomfort after your root canal at ONE ENDO. Infected teeth usually cause serious toothaches, tenderness, and sensitivity. The pain can be so bad that it interferes with your day-to-day life.

           root canal

, this pain will be gone. That’s because we will remove all of the damaged and infected pulp from inside your tooth, and replace it with an inert material. Your tooth will start to feel better immediately after your procedure.

SOME TENDERNESS AND SENSITIVITY ARE NORMAL AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE

Overall, you’ll feel a lot less pain after your root canal, as mentioned. However, it’s not abnormal to feel a little bit of pain, tenderness, or sensitivity right after your procedure. That’s because the tissue near your tooth may be irritated when your

A little bit of tenderness is normal after your treatment at ONE ENDO. But significant pain is not. If your toothache comes back or even gets worse, this may indicate that your initial root canal was unsuccessful. There are lots of reasons this can happen, like hidden roots that were not fully cleaned out during your first treatment.

           1. FIND THE RIGHT DENTIST AND DISCUSS YOUR ANXIETY

Lots of times, dental anxiety happens because you’ve had a past dentist who didn’t listen to you, caused you pain, or otherwise put you through an unpleasant dental experience. So it’s important to find a dentist who will make you feel welcome, comfortable, and like you’re being listened to.

At ONE ENDO, we’re proud to offer an office that’s a judgment-free zone. Our doctors are happy to meet with you before your appointment, discuss the sources of your anxiety, and recommend coping strategies that may help you get the care you need with less discomfort.

           2. BRING SOMEONE WITH YOU TO THE DENTIST’S OFFICE

Having a loved one with you while you wait for your appointment can make things more comfortable, and distract you while you’re in the waiting room. And in some cases, your loved one may also be able to come into the operatory with you while you’re having your dental procedure done at ONE ENDO. Either way, knowing that someone who cares about you is close by can help ease anxiety and make you feel more comfortable.

           3. LISTEN TO MUSIC OR PODCASTS WHILE YOU’RE IN THE DENTIST’S CHAIR

The sounds of the dentist, like dental drills, can be scary and anxiety-inducing for lots of people. So if you’re nervous, bring in headphones and listen to some of your favorite music or a podcast while you’re getting your procedure done at ONE ENDO. This will help block out potentially unpleasant sounds, and it will provide a welcome distraction, too!

           4. TRY BREATHING EXERCISES TO RELIEVE YOUR ANXIETY

Focused breathing can help you relax. Taking rapid, shallow breaths is common when you’re anxious, but this will usually just make you feel worse. Focus on your breathing, and breathe slowly and deeply to help yourself stay calm. Breathing deeply, even for just a few minutes, can help you refocus yourself and fight back against anxiety.

           5. CONSIDER DENTAL SEDATION TO KEEP YOU COMFORTABLE

helps you stay comfortable and relaxed in the dentist’s chair, so it’s an ideal choice for patients with anxiety. We offer lots of different dental sedation options at ONE ENDO.

             Laughing gas –

With laughing gas, you’ll remain fully conscious and in control. But you will feel much less nervous, and you will be able to relax throughout your appointment. It also wears off in just a few minutes after treatment, so you can drive yourself home.

            Oral conscious sedation –

With oral conscious sedation, you’ll take a powerful sedative pill before your appointment. You will feel groggy, and you may even fall asleep during your appointment. You also may forget most of what happened during your procedure. You won’t be unconscious, though, and you can still be woken up and respond to commands.

            General anesthesia –

With general anesthesia, you will be completely unconscious for your entire procedure. We typically only use this type of sedation for very invasive surgeries, since it’s significantly more complex and expensive compared to oral conscious sedation.

LAUGHING GAS VS SEDATION: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

If you deal with restlessness, low pain tolerance, tooth sensitivity, a sensitive gag reflex, or anxiety, you can benefit from dental sedation. Contact us at ONE ENDO to schedule a consultation at our Westchester, Norwalk, or Greenwich offices and we can help you determine which one is right for you.

           Dental sedation

is a useful tool that helps us alleviate pain and anxiety during dental treatment. It’s very common for people feel distressed and anxious by the thought of going to the dentist.

We may suggest that you try dental sedation to see if it helps the experience be much more tolerable. That being said, there are multiple types of dental sedation, so how do you know which is right for you? Read on to learn more about the different types of sedatives.

           WHAT IS LAUGHING GAS?

Laughing gas (nitrous oxide) is a very mild and safe sedative that is suitable for most patients. Since the risk of this sedative is very low, it’s the preferred method of sedation for most. It is a gas that is inhaled through the nose after we place a nasal mask on you.

The onset of the effects is very quick so within just a few minutes, you’ll notice the effects of the sedative. You don’t have to fast for a very long time beforehand, either. We ask that you eat a light meal about 2 hours before your appointment and that you avoid eating during this 2-hour window.

           WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?

The effects of laughing gas include relaxation, a feeling of heaviness, euphoria, or giddiness. You will feel very calm or happy and may even start laughing, but not everyone has this response.

Many people report a tingly feeling in their limbs and they may feel sleepy but remain conscious during the appointment. If you do fall asleep, we can easily wake you up. This is a conscious form of sedation so you will be awake and aware of your surroundings.

HOW LONG DOES LAUGHING GAS LAST?

Laughing gas only lasts for about 5 minutes after we remove the mask. After about 5 minutes, your body would have completely metabolized it and no further remnants of nitrous oxide would be in your body. This means you can return to your normal activities. If you drove to your appointment then you will be able to drive home too.

           WHAT IS DEEP SEDATION?

When you get into the realm of sleep dentistry, we’re talking about general anesthesia, which is a more intense form of sedation that puts you to sleep, in a state of unconsciousness. This is usually reserved for more complex procedures like oral surgery which can be traumatic. It can be administered through a mask, a tube, or an IV. Once this sedative is administered, it kicks in instantly, within 30 seconds.

           WHAT IS IT LIKE?

You will be completely unconscious during the procedure so you are essentially asleep with no idea of what is going on. You will not feel any pain, cannot respond to anyone, move, or have any sense of your surroundings.

This is helpful for people who have extreme phobias or have experienced trauma in a dental setting. This way, they do not have to experience the procedure and they will wake up feeling as if no time has passed and might be confused.

           HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

General anesthesia is much different than nitrous oxide in that it stays in your system for up to 24 hours. We will move you to a recovery room once the procedure is over and will need to monitor you for a while until you’re cleared to leave.

You will need to be monitored for the rest of the day and need assistance getting up the stairs. You will also need someone to drive you home after the appointment. You will likely feel very sleepy and should rest for the rest of the day. You should not engage in any strenuous activity, as your reflexes will be affected for the next 24 hours.

           IS SEDATION RIGHT FOR YOU?

Read on and learn more about the importance of immediate treatment for infected teeth.

           tooth infection

occurs when the outer layers of your tooth are damaged and the delicate, nerve-filled pulp inside the tooth becomes infected by oral bacteria. Most commonly, this happens due to untreated tooth decay, or dental trauma that breaks or cracks the tooth.

If you have an infected tooth, the most common symptom is a painful toothache that doesn’t get better or worsens after a few days. You may also notice swelling and discoloration of the gums near the tooth, or discoloration of the tooth itself. Your tooth may feel sensitive to heat and cold, or to the pressure of biting and chewing. You may even develop a fever.

If you notice one or all of the above symptoms, you should get help from a dentist right away. Tooth infections won’t go away on their own. A root canal is necessary to clean out the infected material, seal the tooth, and preserve it for the years to come.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T GET A ROOT CANAL FOR MY INFECTED TOOTH?

There are a lot of reasons that root canals are important for treating tooth infections. If you don’t get a root canal to treat your issue, you may experience the following problems:

Your pain will get worse –

Your toothache won’t go away on its own. As the nerves inside your tooth continue to die, your pain will only get worse. The pain of a tooth infection can be excruciating, making it impossible to focus on work, school, and other tasks.

Your tooth will die and may fall out –

If your infection gets bad enough, the tooth will die. At this point, you may no longer feel pain or discomfort, but the damaged tooth may break, crack, or even fall out of your mouth.

You may need a tooth extraction and replacement –

If your tooth doesn’t fall out after it dies, you may need to get a tooth extraction. Once your tooth is removed by the team at ONE ENDO, you’ll need to replace it with a partial denture, a dental bridge, or a dental implant. All of these procedures are much more costly and complex than a root canal.

You could experience life-threatening complications –

If your infection is bad enough, it can spread to the rest of your body, triggering “sepsis,” a life-threatening reaction by your immune system. An untreated tooth infection can also cause serious complications like endocarditis, an inflammation of the heart’s inner lining.

Restorative dentistry deals with dental health issues like damage, injuries, or decay. At ONE ENDO, we use the latest techniques and technologies for restorative dental treatments that repair the teeth, in order to help them last as long as possible. But, even with the great progress dental medicine has made over the past decades, sometimes a tooth cannot be saved.

Let’s discuss what a tooth extraction is and when it’s actually needed, and how a root canal can be a better option for most patients.

           WHAT IS A DENTAL EXTRACTION?

When a tooth is decayed and damaged beyond repair, your dentist may decide that a tooth extraction is the only procedure left. A tooth extraction, as its name suggests, involves the removal of your damaged or decayed tooth from your jaw bone. The roots and any trace of infected tissue must be removed completely to prevent reinfection and other complications.

After tooth extraction, the socket is left to heal and a gap is left behind. The problem is that, over time, a socket with no tooth leads to the surrounding teeth shifting out of place and the weakening and recession of the jaw bone. So a tooth extraction should, indeed, be only used as a last option.

           WHAT IS A ROOT CANAL?

Unfortunately, tooth extractions are often performed when other forms of treatment would’ve been effective, saving the tooth. Even preserving the roots of your tooth is beneficial, as their presence promotes jaw bone health.

and there is no extensive decay to the top of the tooth (the crown), a root canal procedure is able to save the most of your tooth, strengthening it with specially designed composite dental materials. If the top part of your tooth is damaged, but your roots are still intact, you might still be able to keep the roots and have a dental crown placed to restore your tooth.

           Root canal therapy

is a common dental procedure done whenever a tooth has a serious root infection. If you’ve had a root canal done on one of your upper teeth and are now experiencing heachaches, pressure, or have a runny nose, you might be wondering whether the procedure caused a sinus infection.

Well, a root canal will not cause a sinus infection, but it is possible to notice the symptoms of it right after getting this dental procedure.

WHY DO I HAVE A SINUS INFECTION AFTER A ROOT CANAL?

Your upper teeth are close to the sinuses, because of this, the bacteria that has caused the tooth infection can sometimes spread to your sinuses, causing a secondary infection. If you notice the symptoms after seeing the dentist, it’s not the root canal procedure causing the infection, but two other potential scenarios:

            The bacteria had already reached the sinus before you got the root canal therapy, but the symptoms were not yet apparent;

The root canal therapy was not fully successful and has left bacteria in the tooth, which traveled to the sinus causing the infection.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHICH SCENARIO APPLIES TO YOU?

A failed root canal therapy is not something anyone wants to go through, but the good news is that if this is the case, the symptoms will be rather obvious:

            Continuous swelling

Heightened sensitivity to heat or cold

            Tooth discoloration

            Tooth pain

            Fever in some cases, etc.

Essentially, a failed root canal therapy means your tooth is still infected, so you will experience the same symptoms. If this is the case, you should see a dentist right away and have the bacteria removed, and save the tooth.

If you notice the symptoms of a sinus infection, but without any discomfort in your tooth, then most likely the infection had already spread to the sinus before getting your root canal.

HOW CAN YOU TREAT A SINUS INFECTION CAUSED BY A TOOTH INFECTION?

The treatment for a sinus infection caused by tooth infection is virtually identical to a regular sinus infection. You should get in touch with your family doctor for a consultation, but in most cases, treatments for sinus infection can include any of the following:

            Saline nasal sprays

            Pain medication

            Decongestants

            Antibiotics, etc.

In most cases, albeit not pleasant, people can bounce back from a sinus infection in just 1-2 weeks.

Endodontists and general dentists are both dental experts that have different areas of focus in dentistry. While general dentists are more focused on prevention and restoration to maintain the overall health of your teeth and gums, endodontists are specialists that focus solely on the health of the inside of your tooth, known as the dental pulp.

, we’re going over the difference between the two, what treatments they perform, and when you should see an endodontist vs your regular dentist.

WHAT DOES A GENERAL DENTIST DO?

A regular dentist must complete a four-year program in dentistry. General dentists are responsible for maintaining the overall health of your teeth and gums. They regularly perform many preventative, restorative, and cosmetic procedures.

The most common procedures performed by a regular dentist include cleanings, oral exams, fillings, and restorative procedures such as fitting teeth with dental crowns, bridges, or dentures. They can also perform more complicated procedures such as root canals and extractions, but not as often as endodontists and it is not their specialty.

An endodontist is a specialist who has undergone additional education and training after their four-year dental school program. Endodontists specialize in the health of your tooth’s pulp and roots, for which they receive an additional 2-3 years of education.

Endodontic treatment involves repairing damage to the inside of the tooth, known as the tooth’s pulp. Dental pulp can be damaged due to inflammation or infection from severe decay or the tooth becoming cracked.

The most common procedure performed by endodontists is a root canal, which involves removing the damaged pulp from the tooth and filling the tooth back up with a rubber material known as gutta-percha. The tooth is then sealed and usually fitted with a dental crown to protect the vulnerable tooth from becoming damaged.

Other procedures performed by endodontists include apicoectomies (root end surgery), repairing cracked teeth, dental implant surgery, managing dental trauma, and treating root level infections.

WHEN SHOULD YOU SEE A SPECIALIST?

You should visit a general dentist every 6 months to maintain good oral health and prevent the formation of tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease. However, some things are out of the scope of a general dentist’s expertise, one of them being root canals.

While many general dentists do offer and perform root canals, they perform them at a rate of about 2 per week in comparison to endodontists who perform about 25 a week. Your regular dentist will sometimes give you a referral to an endodontist if they think you need a specialist who has more training to perform endodontic treatment successfully.

Regular dentists and endodontists often work in tandem to ensure that you’re in good oral health. If your dentist is not comfortable or does not feel they are experienced enough to handle your root canal treatment, they may refer you to an endodontist to perform the bulk of the treatment.

Endodontists have more experience, training, advanced technology, and are also specialists in pain management. You will then likely return to your dentist for the restorative portion of the treatment, where you receive a dental crown.

To learn more about the benefits of visiting an endodontist instead of a general dentist, read on. In this blog from Endodontics of Westchester Shore & Greenwich Endodontics, we will go into detail about the advantages of seeing an endodontist.

           EXPERTS IN THEIR SPECIALTY

Endodontists have all of the schooling and training that a general dentist has, plus two additional years of training in the specialty of treating dental pulp problems. In their practice, they focus specifically on these issues, which means they have a lot more experience in performing procedures such as root canals.

Whereas a traditional dentist will perform maybe 2 root canals in a week, an endodontist is performing them more routinely. You can expect an endodontist to perform about 25 root canals per week.

A root canal is a more complex procedure which is why many dentists will refer people to endodontists if they don’t feel comfortable doing it themselves. With more experience and training performing these procedures, you can expect a higher level of quality and safety.

           LESS WAITING TIME

When experiencing problems with your tooth’s pulp, you’re likely in a lot of pain and discomfort. Traditional dental practices are often booked and unable to accommodate people on short notice. While they may offer some dental emergency appointments, it’s unlikely you could be treated on the same day and may have to wait until they have an opening.

In contrast, endodontists offer more flexible appointments as they relate to root canals, microsurgeries, repairing teeth that have undergone trauma, and much more. An endodontic practice limits itself exclusively to performing these sorts of procedures, so they will be more likely to fit you in.

, an endodontist will put you at the front of the line because that is their exclusive focus. General dentists perform many other procedures with a more broad scope and may not be as flexible or have enough space to fit you in.

Endodontists utilize cutting-edge advanced technology that produces the best results. This results in shorter recovery times and less pain following the procedure. They use advanced microscope technology which is extremely efficient at locating disease that is deep inside of the tooth’s root.

have implemented a variety of steps to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19 and other infectious diseases at our office in Mamaroneck. These include, but are not limited to:

Vaccinations – We have encouraged all of our team members to be vaccinated. This dramatically minimizes the risk of spreading COVID-19. We ask that if you are not vaccinated, you wear a mask in our office to protect yourself, our team, and our other patients.

Social distancing – We have reconfigured our waiting area to provide 6 feet of distance between patients and have reduced the number of patients we see each day in order to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.

Patient screenings – We require all patients to fill out screenings about their exposure to COVID-19, vaccination status, recent travel, and symptoms they may have experienced, ensuring we do not treat anyone who may be infectious.

Infection control training – All of our staff have been trained on how to wash their hands properly, maintain good respiratory hygiene, and take steps to reduce the risk of infection spread at ONE ENDO.

Enhanced cleaning protocols – We have always followed all necessary regulations for cleaning patient operatories, ensuring a safe and infection-free environment. Our team is also wiping down frequently-touched surfaces like doorknobs, chairs, tables, counters, bathrooms, and other surfaces regularly to minimize infection risk.

HOW AN ENDODONTIST CAN SAVE YOUR TOOTH

There are a lot of different ways that endodontists can save your tooth and protect your oral health. Here are just a few of them.

             Root canal therapy

            – Endodontists specialize in root canal therapy and related treatments to eliminate infections, kill bacteria, and restore your tooth. Whether you have an infected tooth due to a large cavity or an oral injury, an endodontist at ONE ENDO can eliminate the infection, relieve your pain, and restore your tooth.

            Dental crowns

             – A dental crown is usually necessary to restore a tooth after a root canal or another endodontic treatment. Crowns look and feel just like natural teeth, and they cover up the vulnerable tooth structure to keep it intact. A high-quality dental crown will protect the tooth and keep it intact for years to come.

All endodontists are dentists, but not all dentists are endodontists! Similarly to any other type of doctor, dentists can specialize in a specific type of treatment after going to dental school if they choose to do so, and endodontics is one of these specialties.

Endodontics is a field of dentistry that specializes in the study and treatment of “dental pulp,” which is the tissue inside your tooth that contains nerves and blood vessels and keeps your tooth alive.

Becoming an endodontist typically requires at least 2 years of post-graduate training in an accredited endodontic program. During this time, endodontic students get additional training on treating tooth pain, root canal therapy, and a wide variety of other procedures involving the inside of the tooth.
