  • Do root canals hurt?

The process is very similar to having a cavity filled. Root canals are a very straightforward procedure, and since our team specializes in endodontics, it is what we do best!

  • Am I a good candidate for sedation?

    Sedation is a great option for many patients who may have dental anxiety or are nervous for an upcoming visit. If you are interested in sedation, you are likely a good candidate for one of our sedation options. We offer laughing gas, oral conscious, and general anesthesia to accommodate a variety of needs.   • Can you repair a cracked tooth?

    Yes! If you have a cracked tooth, we can definitely take care of that. Oftentimes, cracked teeth need to be restored with a root canal and a dental crown. We will take a look at your tooth, assess the damage, and recommend a treatment plan based on your needs and schedule. It is important to get care as soon as possible for a cracked tooth. If left untreated, the tooth could become infected, or even eventually die, which would indicate that you need an extraction. Avoid more costly, invasive procedures and come in as soon as possible so we can save your tooth.

  • What's the difference between an endodontist and a general dentist?

    The main difference between an endodontist and a general dentist lies in their areas of specialization and the types of treatments they provide. An endodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of dental pulp and tissues inside the tooth. They specialize in endodontic therapy, commonly known as root canal treatment. Endodontists receive additional years of specialized education and training after completing dental school. They are experts in performing root canal procedures, treating dental infections, and managing conditions related to the tooth's inner structure, and can handle complex cases involving root canal retreatments, dental trauma, and endodontic surgery. A general dentist, on the other hand is a primary dental care provider who diagnoses, treats, and manages overall oral health, providing exams, cleanings, X-rays, and more. They may refer complex cases and injuries to an endodontist.

  • Are root canals covered by insurance?

    If you have dental insurance, your procedure will almost always be covered by your plan up to applicable limits. Root canals are considered to be essential for protecting your oral health. That means that, unlike some other procedures that are considered “non essential,” they will be covered by your dental plan.


    However, every plan has different deductibles, limits, and out-of-pocket costs. You may still need to pay for part of your procedure at ONE ENDO®. If you’re not sure about your insurance coverage, we recommend contacting your insurer directly, or consulting your policy documents.
