Children’s Endodontics

What Is Pediatric Endodontics?

We treat patients of all ages with expert endodontic care at ONE ENDO, including children. Kids can suffer from infected teeth and dental trauma just like adults, and we’re always here to ensure your little ones get the treatment they need to restore and protect their smile.

Endodontics focuses on treating infections and conditions affecting the interior of the tooth with treatments like root canal therapy. Pediatric endodontics is a subset of endodontics concerned with treating these issues in kids. We provide both standard root canal therapy for adult teeth, as well as “baby root canals” (pulpotomies), which are a faster and less-invasive alternative that helps restore and protect infected baby teeth.

At ONE ENDO, we can treat patients of all ages, and this includes kids who have an infected or damaged tooth. We provide care in a child-friendly environment, and offer sedation to help your child stay safe and comfortable while they get the treatment they need.

How Is an Endodontist Able to Better Treat My Child Than a Dentist?

Endodontists have at least two more years of training in root canals and related procedures, compared to general dentists and pediatric dentists. They perform dozens of root canals and other endodontic treatments each week, so they have the specialized knowledge, tools, and training required to ensure the best possible results. To get your child the care they need, we recommend booking a consultation as soon as possible. Click the button below to learn more about our “Save Your Tooth” consultations.

When Do I Need to Take My Child to an Endodontist?

After an Oral Injury

If your child plays a contact sport and their tooth gets cracked, or if they break or damage a tooth while playing or because of a slip and fall, an endodontist is the best choice. Endodontists can help restore and treat damaged teeth, and have more experience doing so compared to a regular dentist.

If They Have a Toothache

A painful and prolonged toothache could indicate a tooth infection, which should be treated by an experienced endodontist using a pulpotomy (baby root canal).

If Their Tooth Is Very Sensitive

If your child’s tooth is very sensitive when eating hot or cold foods, or when consuming very sugary foods or drinks, they may have a deep cavity or an infected tooth, and it’s best to see an endodontist for treatment.

After a Referral From Your Pediatric Dentist

Pediatric dentists may sometimes refer patients to endodontists for complex root canals and other such procedures. If your child’s pediatric dentist thinks it’s a good idea to refer you to a specialist, contact ONE ENDO right away.

Did You Know…
